The girls varsity lacrosse team took down the Grandville Bulldogs last Saturday 16-5 behind sophomore Delaney Smith’s six goals. The Rangers dominated the Bulldogs from the first draw. This win gives the Rangers a lot of confidence heading into a tough stretch of opponents to finish out the regular season.

“The game against Grandville was a good game to focus on some of the small things in a game setting,” head coach Zoe Mamo said.

The Rangers have been working on the little things since the beginning of the season. Basic fundamentals such as passing and catching have been a focal point for the Lady Rangers all year long. Sophomore Gabby Hendricks displayed tremendous execution of her skills on Saturday accounting for five assists. Junior Julia Brown also had two assists.

“All season coach has been emphasizing the importance of our fundamentals,” junior Sophie Hartl said. “Saturday we were able to kind of put it all together for the first time and both the team and myself came away pleased with our performance.”

The Rangers have four games remaining in the regular season, two of which are conference games. Next up for the Lady Rangers is Grand Rapids Catholic Central, who beat the Rangers 15-11 in the previous meeting.

“The Grandville game helped us get some confidence back before finishing out conference play,” Mamo said.
