After a brutal sweep over East Grand Rapids, the boys varsity bowling team came back thirsty for another victory. Last night, January 16, the team traveled to Park Center Lanes—the home of the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles—and won 23-7.

Per usual, the boys started off the match playing two baker games. Unfortunately, they lost the first baker game 147-199. Out of nowhere, they came through and won the second baker game 150-122. These aren’t the boys’ best scores, but they were enough to win.

The second half of the match—the two individual matches—was a thriller. In the first individual game, junior Luke Stiles had an incredible, close-to-perfect game as he bowled a 243. Everyone in the alley was going crazy over this because it was a momentous individual victory. Along with Luke’s insane performance, all five bowlers won their match. Senior Carter Lyons won 121-115, junior Colin Kirkman won 141-122, Stiles won 243-153, junior Wes Baldwin won 168-115, and finally, the FHC bowling all-star, senior Peyton Price, won 203-184. Wes and Peyton both did not bowl their best games so they were not too happy about their performance. Despite that fact, they were happy about winning. The total score of the first match was 878-684.

In the second individual match, it was a bit rough to play, but the scores improved drastically. Everyone was tired at this point but managed to pull 2/5 wins—almost three. Junior Owen Milanowski sadly lost 154-175, junior Chris Humphreys also lost 124-137, Luke unsurprisingly won 167-106, Wes won 186-137, and Peyton had a nail-biter loss as he lost by one pin—losing 233-234. The final score of the second game was 864-789.

Overall, the boys were extremely successful by winning the overall match 23-7, 17 points from individual games and six points from baker games. The total pin count at the end was a complete blowout as the Rangers won 1742-1473. FHC’s next match is at home at East Brooke Lanes this Wednesday.
