After a tough loss to Northview on Monday night, the boys redeemed themselves by winning their latest match. On Wednesday, the boys bowling team went up against East Grand Rapids for an easy, expected win.

To start off the match, there seems to be a trend: baker games are 1-1. In the first baker match, they won 158-112. In the second baker game, they fell short by four pins losing 150-154.

A player who stood out the most during these matches was Owen Milanowski. His teammate, Peyton Price, gave him a special mention by saying, “He found his groove and competed well and gave the team a huge advantage.”

The bowling scores

Heading into the individual matches, the boys won the first game 710-578 and all five players on the roster won their matchup which was phenomenal. In the second individual matches, the boys went 3-2 winning the second, third, and fifth matchups. The team won the second round 678-664.

East Grand Rapids does not have a girls team; however, the two female bowlers at East Grand Rapids play on the boys team and exceed all expectations. This is the first time that the boys team have ever played against a team that has two female bowlers. Sometimes you will see one, but two is rare. Junior Eleanor Hileman is EGR’s fourth bowler and she went up against FHC’s fourth bowler, Wes. For some context, Wes usually bowls third and he is extremely talented and has an average of around 180. Eleanor lost in the first match but then came back and redeemed herself by beating Wes by 12 pins.

This win over East Grand Rapids wasn’t just another win to the team. For the past two years, the boys lost majority of their games. Now because of the win over East, their win rate is 60%. They have more wins than last year even though we are only halfway throughout the season.

“In my four years of bowling for FHC, this is the first time I’ve seen this team win this much. We are cooking it up this season,” Peyton said.

The team won its match 24-6. Their next game is Monday against Grand Rapids Christian at Park Center Lanes. There is no school on Monday so make sure to make it out there to support the boys and watch them get another victory!
