This past Monday, January 9, the girls bowling team faced off against the Northview Wildcats. An unfortunate loss has been tallied onto the Ranger’s record once again in a match that was nothing short of exhilarating.

“We did alright I guess,” quoted senior Paris Gooch. “We need to hit our marks and listen to the corrections our coach tells us if we want to have more success.”

While it seems like losses are adding up, what needs to be considered is that the ladies are not even halfway through the season. There is still a lot of bowling left to play and this team is up to the challenge. People love a comeback story; this is the perfect opportunity for the ladies to make that a reality. Look at the Detroit Lions for example, they started their season 1-6, and were able to finish with a 9-8 record, which means they only lost twice within the ten games that were played in between. The Lady Rangers can do the same thing, they have a lot of strong-willed players that are willing to put in the work to see this team succeed.

“At the beginning, we didn’t bowl very well at all,” stated junior Letizia Cumbo-Nacheli. “But then in the last individual matches we lit a fire under ourselves and pulled through with a win, everyone bowled better out of nowhere at the very end of the match, we could have done way better if we had started off stronger.”

This is a team that has determination and a drive that pushes them beyond what they believe they are capable of. Good things are coming for these ladies, it may not look that way right now, but hard work and dedication will pay off in the long run.

“My takeaway from our previous game is that I need to stay focused and not worry about things that happened beforehand,” Paris Gooch reported. “I plan to not have anything bothering me on our next match and I plan to break 200!”

The ladies’ next match is supposed to be against Grand Rapids Christian High School at Park Lanes Center at 3:30 p.m. Fans should be confident that they will be ready to win, and prove to Ranger Country what they are made of.
