On February 8, 2023, the JV bowling team won by default against Grand Rapids Christian. GRC did not have enough bowlers for a JV team.

On February 13, 2023, the JV bowling team tied a bow on its season like it was a valentine’s day present, beating Lowell in an impressive win. Lowell clearly just didn’t stand a chance, even with the home lane advantage. During the baker games, the team came out swinging, putting up a 170 game. The boys went on to win both baker games, scoring ten points. They pulled through during the individual matches too, winning six out of ten. In total, they beat Lowell 26-4, capping off a great season.

Bowler Zackary Race quoted, “I think the last game of the season was pretty good overall. I need to work on my spare shots, that was always the one thing I’ve sucked at this year.”

The team’s best two performances this year were both away games. One at Clique Lanes in downtown Grand Rapids against East Grand Rapids, where it won 24-6, and the last game of the season against Lowell at Hillcrest Lanes in Belding.  The teams that the boys had the most trouble with were a loss at home at AMF Eastbrook Lanes against Byron Center, a 26-4 loss, and away at Northfield Lanes in Plainfield against Northview, a 27-3 loss.

Bowler Lorenzo Valdiserri continued his streak of greatness, putting up a 164-point game in his last game of his high school career.

Zack was quoted as saying, “I hate to see Enzo go, I thought he was the best on our team this year and he would’ve been on varsity next year.”

Enzo had multiple 150-point games this season, with his best coming during the last game against Lowell. We wish our senior bowlers in Lorenzo, Nick Francisco, and Jack Manchesky well as they continue on to college.

Overall, the JV boys bowling team went 5-8 this season, and Zack said, “It’s actually a good improvement from what I’ve heard from last year.”

A definite improvement over two wins last year. Next year, we can expect junior bowlers Zackary Race and Mathew Curtis, and freshman bowlers, Jack Monterusso and Hudson Bigford, to improve on their games and hopefully get called up to varsity. For now, we focus our attention on the varsity boys as they head onto the playoffs, with the conference tournament at Park Center Lanes, on February  18, 2023, and regionals at Westgate, on February 23 and 24, 2023. Go Rangers!
