Being a three-year varsity athlete is a great accomplishment. But four is getting to a point where very few people in FHC history have been. Nolan Timmer will hit that mark next winter on the Forest Hills Central Hockey Team. However, next spring will also mark his seventh total season on a varsity team as he will begin his senior season on the links for the Golf Team here at Forest Hills Central. This achievement of seven varsity seasons is incredible. Many people strive for just one season on a team.
This year will be Nolan’s second year as a two-sport Varsity athlete. As spring begins, he looks forward to the golf season and being a contributing part of the team.
“This season, I am looking forward to a good season with the golf team,” Nolan said. “And making a run at the State Finals.”
As the Hockey season wrapped up on February 26, with a heartbreaking loss in the Regional Final, we look back on a fabulous season by the Rangers and celebrate their wins. Nolan was an integral part of the success of the team. Nolan has a total of 13 points on the season, which ranks him among the top point-getters on the FHC Hockey team. Throughout the season, the team and Timmer have been on the rise, turning heads all around the state.
With the season coming to an end, Nolan looks back on some of his favorite memories of his High School career.
“My favorite memory of my High School career was during Freshman year when we made it to the final four in playoffs,” Nolan said.
If you have ever been to a Ranger Hockey Game, you might have noticed that there are two Timmers on the ice. Nolan’s little brother Michael also plays for the team; the two of them have helped the team immensely this season.
As this hockey season wraps up, and Nolan will have one more season on the ice with his brother, he recalls his experiences playing with his brother.
“It feels cool to play with my brother,” Nolan said. “Because of all the time we have grown up together, we have very good chemistry together.”
Winter athletics are wrapping up soon, but what that means is that spring sports are on the horizon. This spring, Nolan will be in his second year on the Boys Varsity Golf Team. Nolan will play a big part in the success of the golf team this season. Head Coach Mitch Timyan believes Nolan will be very important to the team this year. “Nolan has years of experience in golf and hockey,” Timyan said. “Our leaders on this team are leaning on each other, and Nolan will be a key part of what makes this team great,” Timyan said.

With golf tryouts on March 11, the golf team looks to have another successful season, coming off of back-to-back state final appearances. “The golf team only has three returners this season, so they are looking for some newcomers to come in and make an impact. This season, there is a chance that there could be no seniors on the team, so that this year could be a development year for a big run next year, or we could prove a lot of people wrong and make a run during the postseason.
“This year, we have solid returning players with some exciting players coming in to fill the gaps left by our seniors who departed last season,” Timyan said. “There will be great opportunities for younger players to step up.”
