Q+%26+A+with+girls+varsity+basketball+player%2C+senior+Maggie+Kelderman

Name: Maggie Kelderman

Grade: Senior

Sport: Girls varsity basketball

How long have you been playing basketball?

“Twelve years (since I was 5).”

What other sports do you play at FHC?

“None.”

What is your best memory from your time playing basketball and why?

“This year, beating Northpointe Christian. It was a huge comeback win for us because we had lost our previous game, and we played the best we have played all season! We also lost to NPC during fall league both times, so it was a huge win for us.”

What are the strengths of this year’s team?

“Chemistry. We all enjoy being around each other, and that translates onto the court with our playing.”

What are your individual goals for this season?

“I just hope to make an impact on my team. Not only by playing but through leadership and positivity.”

Do you have any superstitions associated with your games?

“Some girls need to have braids in their hair before games, but other than that, not really.”

What is your favorite class this year and why?

“I love teacher cadet. I enjoy being able to go to CMS [Central Middle School] to spend time with the 7th-grade math class that I am in. It is super interesting to see how Mrs. Pascoe teaches and how she has impacts on her students.”

Who is the biggest influence in your athletic career and why?

“My dad is my biggest influence. He was my first-ever coach, and he has spent countless hours driving me to practices and coming to my tournaments with me. I love being able to talk about the game with him, and he gives me super good advice when I am struggling with my playing.”
