Au Revoir, Pioneer boys bowling

Things are looking brighter for the FHC boys bowling team after having five losses in a row; the boys broke that unlucky streak by beating East Grand Rapids at their own home lanes. On February 6, the Rangers traveled downtown to Clique Lanes with intentions of getting a victory.
The Clique isn’t an ideal place to have a bowling game because of how old the lanes are. Senior Peyton Price commented on this fact by stating, “The lanes weren’t optimal for peak performance and that threw our games off.”
Despite the lanes hindering the team’s greatest potential, the boys still achieved great success overall. They won both individual matches after losing both baker games. In the individual matches, the boys won the first game 816-688. Everyone but the team’s first bowler won their individual matchup. In the second individual match, the boys won three out of five individual matchups and won the overall pin count 784-755. Peyton Price bowled the last ball with style and ended the game with a bang which made the crowd laugh.
In the baker games, they lost both of them because the boys weren’t able to adjust to the lanes despite having a ten minute warmup. They lost the first baker game by two pins losing 144-142. In the second, they lost 203-172. In the first baker game, the team fell apart towards the last few frames which allowed EGR to barely pull out a victory winning by only two pins.
“We played better than average but EGR out-bowled us,” junior Wes Baldwin said.
Overall, the boys won the overall meet 17-13 and won the total pin count 1600-1443. The team’s next game is Wednesday, February 8, at 3:00 p.m., at Eastbrook Lanes, against Grand Rapids Christian. It is senior night so make sure to make it out there to honor the senior bowlers!
