As the winter season begins to slow down the girls JV basketball team is continuing to grow as a team, as well as growing individually.

The girls had an away game on Thursday, January 26, against the East Grand Rapids Pioneers. EGR is always a tough team to beat, so the girls went into overtime twice and unfortunately lost by only three points.

The last January game for the girls was at FHC, against Calvin Christain, the girls had yet to have played them this season, but that did not stop them from winning and using all the tools they have to continue their winning streak. The girls won by almost double the amount of points with an astonishing score of 41-21.

Olivia Latunski has been working on her skills. Which has been shown both at her games and at practices. When a teammate is willing to put the work in to grow and become better as a whole, it allows the girls—in this circumstance—to beat Calvin Christian.

Olivia stated, “I’ve been working on getting rebounds and being confident handling pressure on offense. My team has grown a lot and I’m looking forward to playing against the teams we lost to previously. I am kind of surprised the season is ending already. I’ve had such a great time!.”

Yet another game against Forest Hills Northern High School on February 2. The girls are on a winning streak, which continued during this game winning once again by a large margin of 16 and a total score of 42-26.

With only a few more games through their season, the girls will face off at home one more time until their last game on February 7 against Byron Center.
