Fall sports are now under wrapped and players are heading into the off-season. Many are hanging out with friends or family, while others are on the grind to get better then the previous season. Many players have found many hobbies or things they are looking forward to in the off season.
Players of all sports are now on the off-season chill time. But maybe it isn’t so relaxing after all. Many players play tough, grueling sports that require tons of time and effort during the season. They now have the time they want to get what they want done and have some fun.
“In the off-season, I am really looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends,” varsity soccer player Jack Fielder said.
Players are now free to spend time with people they didn’t get to before because they were so busy during the season. Other players also have the same feelings and want to do things they didn’t get to during the season.
“I’m so excited to ski,and spend time with friends again,” varsity football Patrick Carpenter said. “I haven’t been able to do that with the busy schedule of football, having to play everyday for 3 months straight.”
Off-season is spent in many different ways for the type of person. Some may want to have fun while others are on the grind to get better and better. Many different options depending on the player.Players may want to do both.
“For the team in the off-season,” Patrick states, “I want to keep working and getting closer together as a team with the next year’s guys.” “Getting the younger guys ready for the games and season is a big part for the team.”
Football is one of the toughest sports here at FHC. Requires physicality and mental pain. Tough time we are in where you gotta be the best in the sport to get a shot on the field. Many players are tired after the long season but others may want to get ahead through the off time.
“I’m excited to get better in the gym and get ready to work on baseball training,” said varsity football player Benjamin Campbell.
Players are getting in the gym to work hard and want to make an impact on themselves which will give them the shot they may have not gotten in the previous season. Some are for reps while others are to gain muscle.
“I really want to get in the weight room in the off-season and to study film of our mistakes in the previous season in order to get better.
Players with the mentality of getting better everyday will always accomplish what their goal is. Now with the time off they can do these goals that they are working so hard for. Some athletes are playing multiple sports so they have less off-season time to chill or get better. Some may have other sports that start up really soon because of the incoming Winter sports that are on the way.
“Very happy to get back in a sport and get ready to start some basketball training,” varsity football player Oliver Kulik said.
Now that winter sports are under way, this gives players only a couple weeks before they have to start back up and begin their next chapter in sports. Many have to re-lock in on the new season and get ready to start up for the team.
Other players however, cannot play multiple sports for many reasons. Injuries, holidays or even just restrictions.
“I am injured so I am going to be working towards recovery and getting stronger for the next season,” Jack said.
Many players are suffering from injuries so that limits their access and the amount they can do this off season. Jack is suffering from a torn ACL that is limiting his participation in the off-season. Despite the challenge, players are still working hard to get back and going for the next year.
There are mixed feelings of the off-season because of the season under wraps but, players are overall happy to get to be back in the off-season and have time to relax but also just get better for the next season.
“I am working hard to get better for the next season,” Oliver states, “But mainly I really am just gonna relax and have fun this off season.” “Glad I don’t have to be busy or have the stress of being on the field anymore.”
