Week 5 of the NFL just wrapped up and there were many great players and many great games this week. Most players who were projected to do well this week played up to par, meaning there were not as many huge busts this week. But there were still a few, and those are the players I am going to talk about this week. (All stats are from ESPN)
#5 TreVeyon Henderson – Patriots
Henderson had 6 carries for only 24 yards in the Patriots week 5 win over the Bills 23-20, and caught 2 passes for a total of 3 yards. Henderson is currently ranked as the 37th best fantasy running back in the league, and will probably drop even further, as he is beginning to share a lot of downs with Rhamondre Stevenson, who scored both rushing touchdowns for New England on Sunday. Henderson was projected to have 12.2 points going into week 5, and only managed to put up 4.7. Henderson is most likely to get less carries for next week against the Saints, so if he is on your roster, it would be smart to look into other options.
#4 AJ Brown – Eagles
Brown has continued to struggle as a part of the Eagles offense this season so far, as he is only averaging only 8.9 fantasy points per week, while still being projected to have 15+ points most games. Brown had 5 receptions on 8 targets for only 43 total yards in the Eagles week 5 loss to the Broncos 21-17. Brown was projected to put up 16.8 fantasy points last week, but only managed to put up 9.3, marking him as the 41st best fantasy football WR in the NFL.
#3 Quentin Johnson – Chargers
Johnson has had a very dominant start to his 2025 season, as he has had over 14 points per game up until week 5, and is currently the 8th best fantasy WR going into week 6. He didn’t have a great game in the Chargers week 5 27-10 loss against the Commanders. Johnson was predicted to have 15.3 points, and only got 6.9. He is questionable for next week’s game against the Dolphins, but if he does play, it is very likely that he will have another good game.
#2 Mark Andrews – Ravens
Andrews is the #16 fantasy football TE and has been a key player in the Ravens offense for the past few years. But so far this season, he has not been performing up to standards at all. He is only averaging 8.8 points per game, which isn’t horrible, but he has had 3 games where he scored under 5 points, one game where he scored 27.1, and one game where he scored 10. He has been so inconsistent this season, that deciding to start him could make or break your matchup. He was projected to have 9.6 points in the Ravens 44-10 loss against the Texans, but only put up 4.2 points; 2 receptions for 22 yards.
#1 James Cook – Bills
James Cook is on the underperforming list for the first time all season, and he is right into the number one spot for his terrible week 5 performance in the Bills 23-20 loss to the Patriots. He has had a very solid start to the season, as he has been averaging 19.2 PPG and is ranked 4th among fantasy RB’s. Still, his performance last week is one I can’t overlook, as he was projected 21 points, and only put up 4.9. He had 15 carries, and got 49 total yards, but should be able to bounce back next game when the Bills take on the Falcons.
