Name: Jack Monterusso
Grade: Senior
Sport: Cross Country
How long have you been playing?
“I’ve been running cross country for four years (all of high school).”
What other sports do you play at FHC?
“Along with Cross Country, I do Track & Field, which goes hand in hand with Cross Country (most cross runners do track as well).”
What is your best memory from your time playing?
“Favorite cross memory was being shuttled into the State Championship at the Michigan International Speedway. The Michigan International Speedway is a race car track, so driving through the tunnel to get into the stadium is really cool since it’s so big.”
What music do you listen to to get fired up for games?
“We listen to a lot of 2010s classics (like Pitbull), but our pre-race song is “Can’t Stop” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. After races, we like to listen to “Take Me Out” by Franz Ferdinand.”
Do you have any superstitions associated with your games?
“The team likes to run our favorite running route to the Fine Arts Center the day before races for good luck. We also have a pre-race chant, but it’s just a bunch of nonsense words lol.”
Who is your favorite professional athlete?
“My favorite professional athlete is Grant Fisher, who is an Olympic-distance athlete. I like him because he is from Grand Blanc, Michigan.”
What is your favorite class this year and why?
“My favorite class this year has been AP Calculus BC. Somehow, this is my favorite, even though it sucks. Mr. Smith is really funny, and math is interesting.”
Who was your favorite teacher in elementary school?
“My favorite teacher from elementary school was Mrs. Lampe. I went to Coopersville Area Public Schools in elementary school.”
