The 2025-26 NFL season kicks off this week, and the first game is this Thursday as the Dallas Cowboys are traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. Last year, these two teams faced off twice, with the Eagles winning the first game 41-7 and also taking the second game 34-6. Though the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year, those were two embarrassing defeats for the Cowboys, who had a not great, but respectable record of 7-10. That was all last year, though, and the Cowboys are returning to Philadelphia to try and avenge their 2 losses from last season.
The Eagles are coming off their second Super Bowl win in franchise history and have very high hopes for this season, with a repeat possible. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown are all returning, and that’s just a few of the stars that are coming back from that Super Bowl team. Even with all their best players returning, the Eagles managed to retain a lot of their starters from last season and have a very similar roster to the Super Bowl team of the previous year.
The Cowboys are coming off a rough season last year, as their starting quarterback, Dak Prescott, suffered a season-ending injury in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. Although he wasn’t the only one injured by the Cowboys, he was one of the main starters out. The Cowboys’ season ended when the Commanders beat the Eagles in week 16, making it the first season since 2020 that the Cowboys didn’t make the playoffs. Recently, a blockbuster trade happened in which the Cowboys gave away their best defensive player and arguably the best defensive player in the league, Micah Parsons. For him, they received Kenny Clark and two first-round picks from the Packers. Whether that trade will help or hurt them has not been shown yet.
With all of that controversy in chaos in the organization, there has to be some good news, right? Well, Dallas fans are in luck as Ceedee Lamb is back and ready to have his best season ever. With him and Dak Prescott both healthy, they could be one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in the league this year. In fact, during a press conference this offseason, Lamb said, “I think the league knows what happens when I’m healthy and I have Dak for a whole season.” With that being said, this should be an interesting season for Cowboys fans.
During the first quarter, I predict that the Eagles will go up 14-0 with a touchdown run from Saquon Barkley and a touchdown throw from Jalen Hurts to A.J. Brown. Those will be the only points from the first quarter, as the Cowboys will go scoreless.
With the score being 14-0 during the second quarter, Dak Prescott will hit Ceedee Lamb for a touchdown, making the score 14-7. The Cowboys will get the ball back at the end of the quarter and drive down to hit a field goal, making the score 14-10.
The Cowboys will start with the ball in the 3rd quarter, but will get stopped by the Eagles. The Eagles will drive down and hit a field goal, making the score 17-10 with the Eagles winning. I predict that will be the only score of the first half.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles will start with a touchdown, making the score 24-10. That will be the only score of the 4th quarter, and the Eagles will win 24-10.
