JV girls soccer starts off the season with a 1-2 record
The girls JV soccer team is off to a great start as the weather starts warming up and the sun begins to shine again. The team is working great together and this teamwork will hopefully pay off in the end with a high win record.
On March 24, the girls faced off against Caledonia. Unfortunately, they lost 2-1. Even though they weren’t able to pick up the win, they still managed to play great and only lost by one point. For being early on in the season, this is a great way to use the loss to create more wins in the future.
On April 1, that’s just what they did when the girls played the Grandville Bulldogs. They picked up a marvelous 4-1 win and added it to their record. This win was well-deserved and worked hard for it. The grit and determination displayed by the girls paid off and felt good to every single teammate.
Coach John Blodgett thinks very highly of the team.
“The season is off to an encouraging start. Caledonia was a tough opponent and the team fought hard the whole game. We hit the post in the first half so it was a bit unlucky to end with a loss,” he shares. “The offense exploded in our second game, putting up four goals, three of which came in the second half.”
Audrey Leestma has led the charge with three goals already this season and Lilah Yoder has shown off her passing skills with three assists.
On April 12, the team played Byron Center. They, unfortunately, lost 2-0 to a very different opponent. Even though the game resulted in a loss, the girls still played fiercely under the given circumstances.
The ladies will play their next game on Friday, April 14, against Hudsonville high school. This game will be a great opportunity to share your support and your spirit for FHC. Make sure to come out and support the team as they take on the Eagles.
