A season of ups and downs. A season of injuries and improvement. A season full of sun and snow days. A season of exciting close games and cancellations. The girls JV basketball team has seen it all. Starting off the girls season with a 2-1 record, a rocky start against some of its stronger competitors, soon changed and the scoreboard began to point in the team’s favor during the holiday break. Three more wins in a row, exemplifying how hard each member of the team had been working.
As the new year begins, the girls play tough competitors and the skills they continue to work on at practices are continuing to improve to push the JV basketball team over the top. The record stands at 10-2 at the end of January with only nine games left in the season for the girls to continue to shine game after game. The last couple weeks of the season for the girls were rocky, a few losses and some cancellations due to weather stopped their season early. Though the season finished off not in the way they were hoping the record shows for itself how the hard work and determination created a tight-knit, hard-working team.
Captain Anna Krampe, has nothing but good things to say about this team; even though the season ended short, she saw the grit that each girl exemplified day in and day out.
“This season went really well. I think our team performed very well considering the circumstances and we were able to meet many of the goals that we set as captain,” Anna said. “I am very proud of our team and how hard they worked in the season. When they were in the gym they gave their all and it showed in how we played our games. my favorite part of our team was the excitement and energy that we had.”
Freshman Kenzie Manders reflects on her favorite memories from the season, which is not reverb on the court it’s just the friendships that were created due to this season.
“A memory that stands out is team bonding and all of the team dinners. My favorite part of the season was getting to know all of the people on my team and becoming close with them which then helped us with our teamwork,” Kenzie said.
Though the season has come to an end, the JV basketball team has had a chaotic season. One thing that remained the same throughout is the relationships, bonds, and love of the game that each player now has because of this season. Congratulations to the girls for an exceptional season and good luck next year.
