The FHC Equestrian Team wraps up its season with an 8th place finish in states

After a season in which everything fit into place, the FHC Equestrian Team finishes their wild season with an 8th place finish among 10 teams in the state finals.

Despite the low finish, it’s amazing that the team was able to get there at all considering all the circumstances surrounding the team at the beginning of the season.

However, after the event, they believe there were areas they could’ve worked on before the finals that would’ve improved their performance in the big game.

Senior Masyn Cole discussed where the team might’ve fallen short.

“I think we could’ve taken more time practicing,” Masyn said. “We didn’t have time because we were busy and there was only a week between districts and states”

With only a week between districts and states to practice, it was clear that there was a very small window for the team to do a whole lot. Practicing was crucial for the team’s success in the state finals and the circumstances forbade them to do so.

Even with the season-ending abruptly, most of the riders, even the graduating seniors, this is not the end of their horse riding careers.

Masyn is considering attending either Grand Valley State University or Michigan State University to continue her horse riding career, which has always been part of her life, and she will try to keep it going.

Those who will remain on the team will take notes from this season to get ready for the next season to hopefully do even better than how they did this season.
