In a valiant effort against the East Grand Rapids pioneers, the boys varsity soccer team was, unfortunately, unable to continue their win streak, losing 0-1.
With how their season is going and obtaining their first loss, Coach Paul Kramer is making sure that the boys continue to work hard but stay humble so they do not get sloppy.
“From the beginning of the season, I’ve stressed the process and the journey. Given the success at the end of last season, I felt it was important to keep the boys grounded and not get ahead of themselves,” Coach Kramer emphasized.
Being on the team as a sophomore could be intimidating for most but not in Eli Lipke’s eyes. He is excited about how the season looks with only one loss, and he is bonding well with the team.
“I think the season is going really good; the team bonding and the chemistry are there. I feel like we all mesh really well together,” Eli said. “I think we could win states if we keep this up; we started really well, I do not see a team out there that could beat us again, so I have high expectations for us.”
The boys next game is Saturday against Northview High School at 6:45 p.m. The team has high expectations for their next game to restart their winning streak.
