Cross country boys and girls both place third in the second OK White Jamboree

This Wednesday, the Ranger cross country team lined up in the second OK White Jamboree of the season. The boys and girls were ready to show the conference what they were capable of.

The boys placed third out of the eight teams. This was very exciting for them, as it was their first time placing higher than fourth place all season. The Rangers were led by senior Sam Yeager and junior Ethan Krampe. Sam finished fifth overall with a time of 16:04.45, which was the best time for the Rangers. He beat his previous time by 32 seconds. Ethan also improved his time by 17 seconds, running for 16:24.63. He placed eighth overall and second for FHC. There were additional spectacular runs coming from Nathan Decker and Ryan Sutherlund; they both increased their PR by almost an entire minute.

The boys team jumped up one spot from fourth to third since the last conference meet.

“A ton of our runners improved this race,” head coach Ryan Schipper said, “We saw many people chunk off time.”

The girls also raced against the OK White Conference this Wednesday; they came in third place as well. However, there were many huge improvements in times. The top two runners for FHC on the day were Clara James-Heer and Mia Bateson. They both ran for less than 19 minutes and had big time-jumps since their last race. Marissa Lunt also jumped up more than two minutes, which was great for the team.

As the season continues, the Rangers are looking to improve their times even more and hopefully place higher. The next meet will be the Cougar Falcon Invite at the Gainey Athletic Complex.

“Both teams are starting the realize their end-of-season potential,” coach Schipper said. “It’s going to be exciting to watch.”
