The girls JV tennis team loses a tough one to FHN 4-9

On Tuesday, the girls were up against one of the tops teams in the state: the Huskies of Forest Hills Northern. Northern has had a powerhouse tennis program for the last few years, and it has been no different this year.

Freshmen Libby Noonan and Eva Vantill won easily by a score of 8-4, followed by fellow freshmen Lydia Gurley and Sloane Corey extending their winning streak with a win of 8-3. The combination of Lydia and Sloan has been one of the best this season for the team and has won some big matches in important times.

“I think just the fact that we’re such good friends and know each other so well is really what carries our success,” Lydia said when asked what they key was to their prosperity.

On Wednesday, May 12th, the girls will cap off the season against Hudsonville. Having the outstanding season that they were hoping for, the Rangers will look to end on a high note and get the final win. After talking to coach Humzah Azeem and a few of the players, they seem to be very confident about how ready they are for the last match.
