Freshman baseball defeats Lowell in a doubleheader

On Tuesday, the freshman baseball team faced off against the Lowell Red Arrows. In their last matchup, the Rangers defeated Lowell by a score of 14-6. However, this time they looked to win in more dominating fashion. The Rangers dominated the first game, and they did what they set out to do. The second game was a solid fight between the two teams with some errors. However, a bunt helped the team win.

The first game was a complete blowout; the team won 6-0. Central shredded Lowell’s offense and didn’t allow them to score once. Roman Brummel pitched very well that game and led the team to a shutout. In the second game, it was a closer battle. The boys couldn’t find the firepower that they had in the first game. However, Chris Dongmo had a really huge bunt that helped the team progress forwards and defeated the Red Arrows by a score of 7-6.

“We did pretty well overall and got the win, which is all that matters,” Drew Fortino said. “We are on an 8 game winning streak, and by Thursday, it will be 10.”

The next time the boys play is on Thursday against Grand Rapids Christian. The boys are 3-1 overall against the Eagles and hope to make it 5-1 after Thursday. The boys had issues in their last matchup and had two really close games, but they are confident they have the edge this time.
