JV baseball reaches thirteen wins after sweeping Grand Haven in a doubleheader

Shortly after finishing games two and three of the Grand Rapids Christan series, FHC traveled down to Grand Haven this past Friday to meet up with the Buccaneers for the first time this season. Like Christian, the Rangers added to their win total with two more games after winning 4-1 and 12-7. Again, the pitching duo of freshmen Carson Custer and JT Hartman led the way by dominating game one.

In terms of hitting in the first game, sophomore Justin Osterhouse continued his efficient stretch by finishing two-for-four at the plate with a triple and RBI. During game two, sophomore Lucas Thompson came out of his shell and nailed two essential RBIs. Helping Lucas carry the load on offense, freshman JT Hartman matched Lucas’s two RBIs and created even more issues for Grand Haven’s fielders. To close out the second game, freshman Ty Hudkins made the game-winning play on a triple that brought in two runs to bring the lead to 8-7. Finally, sophomore Sammy Mielock hit three-for-five with a double and three RBIs.

The Rangers are now 13-1 on the season and will play West Ottawa in a home doubleheader on Saturday, May 1.
