In just three conference tournament games. The girls varsity soccer team scored twenty-one goals while only giving up two.

It started off with Greenville, who was no match for FHC. Right off the bat, senior Stella Sutton put the first goal in the back of the net. Following suit were goals from seniors Theryn Hallock, Livy Bowling, Katie Hurbanis, Maggie Hier, Claudia Folkert, Ruthie Vanskiver, and junior Frankie Sutton. Likewise, senior Lauren Koczenasz scored a hat trick and senior Ava Wilberding had a shutout in the net as the Rangers beat Greenville by a score of 11-0.

Next, the girls moved on to a match-up in the conference semi-finals against Grand Rapids Christian. The Rangers had beaten the Eagles 4-1 earlier in the year and this match-up looked to be very reminiscent of that. FHC quickly took a lead that never faded away, as two goals from Hallock hit the back of the net and goals from junior Dailey Tucker, Stella Sutton, and Koczenasz did as well. The Rangers won this contest 5-1 and were very excited to move on to a championship opportunity.

“It feels amazing to move onto the conference championship because we have put a lot of hard work into this season, and I believe that we deserve this,” Hurbanis spoke. “I’m excited about a tough game tomorrow, but with a lot of determination and hard work, I feel that we can come out on top. I’m proud of all of my teammates and can’t wait to move on with them.”

The final game for FHC was the OK White Conference Championship, in which RGSO would have to face off against the fierce Byron Center Bulldogs. This contest was also very similar to the meeting between Byron Center and FHC earlier in the year, as the Rangers came away with a 4-0 win coming back from Spring Break. This time around, the Rangers handled the Bulldogs thanks to two goals from Folkert, one from Hallock and Frankie Sutton, and one goal from sophomore Ayla Thompson.
The final score of the game was 5-1, as the Rangers moved on to win the conference and enter regionals with a record of 14-2-1.
On Tuesday, May 31, RGSO will face off against Ionia to open up the regional playoffs at 6:oo PM at home.
