Last night, the girls JV tennis team got a big win over Lowell, beating them by a score of 8-2. Head coach Humzah Azeem was super proud of the team’s effort and how well the duos played together.
The first set started off slow, and the girls had a hard time getting into the flow of the match. However, by the time the second set rolled around, they were more than ready to compete. The comeback win for sophomores Kyra Thomas and Noelle Stewart sparked the FHC’s late push, and following that, almost every duo won by a convincing margin.
Freshman Bella Grounin and freshman Letizia Cumbo-Nacheli won their match in a tiebreaker by a score of 7-3 and a set score of 8-7. Freshman Ayla Ahmetovic and freshman Zoey Segebarth also won by an astounding 8-0 final.
“I was super happy with the way the younger girls played today,” said junior Bella Wisely. “If we keep this play up, we will be in for a super exciting season.”
“Just as Bella said, I am super proud of the way we performed today and next week when we get a shot at Grand Rapids Christian,” junior Coco Corey said. “That match will really test us to see where we are and what we have to work on.”
Next Thursday, April 27, the girls will travel to Grand Rapids Christian High School to take on the Eagles in a dual match.
