Two track meets, two first place finishes for the boys.

Tuesday, April 11 was the first time the FHC track team laced up its running shoes to try and take home first place. The team traveled to Northview High School for its first meet, and they didn’t disappoint. The whole team competed very well all the way around, taking down Northview 86.5-32.5 and Greenville 70-67. Senior Max Meadow was a key runner for FHC, taking first place in the mens 200 and the 4×200 relay, running with Alexander Dixon, Max Richardson, and Chris Dongmo. After helping FHC win, Max was happy to reflect on the meet.

“It was a strong first meet for both the men and women. We’re only going to keep improving and hopefully winning,” Max stated. Max is a weapon for FHC track, being a seasoned, senior sprinter, who will continue to add points to FHC’s score.

Then, last night on Thursday they took down Forest Hills Northern 90-47. Will Banfield had a huge first-place win in the 800, winning by eight whole seconds. He also took first in the 4×800 relay, along with Ryan Sutherland, Jacob Sanford, and Trevor Timmer, winning by 15 seconds. There was dominance all around as Max Richardson took first in the discus, with a PR of 100-01.50, with second place getting 95-10.50. Overall, the team was completely dominant, showing how much of a powerhouse they’ll be for the rest of the season.

Another key team member is Connor DiLorenzo. Connor is the unofficial hype man, always keeping the team in the winning spirit. He had some comments of his own about the keys to the performance of the team thus far. “We move forward no matter the obstacles. We put our heads down and persevere through everything thrown our way,” he explained. He also had an idea of how the team could keep improving. “We could sit in a circle and share some of our favorite but appropriate jokes, that way we can keep positive mental attitudes.”

The boys are buzzing and they’ll keep winning for the foreseeable future. The next meet is Wednesday, April 19.
