Egypt Valley gives the girls golf team a learning experience to prepare them for the Kenowa Hills Invite.
More stories from Peyton Price
Egypt Valley is known for its difficulty and the trouble it can cause. Unfortunately, the team found an abundance of hardships last night, landing in the 4th spot of a six-team jamboree. The rankings were FHN-164, Byron Center-165, EGR-177, FHC-188, Lowell-190, and GRC-196. Maya played a very good round at 40 strokes. Skyler and Abby Schneiker followed with 44 and 50.
“A fight ‘till the very end,” Skyler Tierney noted. “Egypt Valley Country Club is a very difficult but fun course. Maya had a great round, and I’m really proud of her.”
One of the essential things in sports is keeping a positive mental attitude. This is why sports is about winning and learning instead of winning and losing. When the team “loses,” they learn. They figure out what they did wrong and make adjustments to resolve the issues.
As time goes by and more matches are played, the more experience the players will gain and can use the lessons they learn along the way to prove they belong on the course. Fans will soon see the girls playing to their true capabilities and put the words “Forest Hills Central” at the top of the scoreboard.
The next match is September 9 at the Kenowa Hills Invite. It will be held at Gracwil Country Club, but the time is still to be determined.
