JV baseball headed back into action Friday afternoon; they took on Hudsonville in a single for the first meeting between the two this season. This game would be a defensive thriller thanks to freshman Mason McDonald’s stalwart performance on the mound. Mason threw a complete game shutout while only giving up 3 hits. In the end, FHC won the contest 2-0 even though its only runs came in the first inning.
In that inning, freshman JT Hartman and sophomore Sammy Mielock nailed the only hits on the day for the Rangers. Despite the fact that FHC is used to scoring in bunches, the two runs were still enough to bring home the win.
The Rangers are now 19-1 on the season and will move on to a split three-game series with Northview on Monday, May 10, and a doubleheader against Kenowa Hills the following Friday.
