It’s not too often that a baseball game gets postponed because of darkness. Yet, JV baseball’s doubleheader against the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles was cut short during the final game because of dark skies. The one game that FHC got to finish did end in a successful performance, though, as they took home a 13-9 victory.
Sophomore Sammy Mielock headlined the offense and finished three-for-four at the plate with a triple and three RBIs. The pitching staff gave up a new season-high in runs today with nine, but in game two, they held the Eagles to a score of just 15-2 in the sixth inning.
The Rangers will resume conference play this Wednesday to take on Grand Rapids Christian one more time. Then, they will move on to play in doubleheaders against Grand Haven on Friday, April 30, and West Ottawa on Saturday, May 1. Considering that the boys boast a 9-1 overall record, their confidence should remain high for the rest of the season.
