Boys JV lacrosse continues its season of dominating performances against Hudsonville and Caledonia
More stories from Mason Corcoran
After a huge weekend win for the Rangers, the team played two of its easier opponents throughout the season in back-to-back days. First, FHC had to travel to Hudsonville to play the Eagles on Tuesday. The following day, the Rangers would travel to play the Caledonia Fighting Scots as well.
Going into the game against Hudsonville, FHC knew that it did not have to play perfectly to win the game. However, the boys still wanted to play as crisp as they could to prepare for their big game against Brother Rice on Saturday. The Rangers dominated the entire game as they spent more than half of the game time on the offensive side of the ball. Although the boys had a clear-cut 15-0 win, the team still looked sloppy on both sides of the ball. However, several players stepped up throughout this game. Freshman Tyler Nass continued to help the offense out; he pushed the pace in transition a handful of times throughout the game. This offensive pressure resulted in numerous fast breaks for the Ranger’s offense. Sophomore Reece Roskam also played a big role by scoring an impressive three goals by himself.
Following its easy win against the Eagles, FHC then traveled to Caledonia for its second game in two days. This quick turnaround had no negative effect on the team, as they seemed to start their game against the Fighting Scots off quicker and smoother. Once again, the Rangers dominated the game, and in doing so, spent the majority of game time on their offensive attacks. Sophomores Jonah McConnell, Jake Koning, Reese Le, and Reece Roskam all worked their way onto the stat sheet accumulating more than 10 of the team’s total goals. The Rangers handily beat Caledonia as well 20-3.
Following the FHC’s built-up momentum from their hot streak, their record now stands at 4-2. FHC will look to continue its season of epic domination this weekend in its annual battle against Brother Rice. The Rangers will have to play their best game to triumph this Saturday against a powerhouse lacrosse program in Brother Rice. However, they have set themselves up for the best result with their upcoming performances.
