The third week of the NFL just wrapped up. There were many exciting games with high-performing players, blocked kicks, and lots of fantasy football points. Here are the top 5 best-performing players of week three in the NFL.
#5. Caleb Williams (29.12): Caleb Williams played great in the Chicago Bears’ first win of the season against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams completed 19 of 28 attempts for 298 passing yards and 4 touchdown passes. Williams achieved his career-best passer rating of 146.8 and completed 67.9% of his passes. Williams was not sacked once during this game, a huge turnaround from last season. If the o-line keeps this up, Caleb may be a threat going forward.
#4. David Montgomery (29.4): The best game of the week by far happened on Monday night. The Ravens faced the Detroit Lions in a great matchup. David Montgomery had a breakout game. Montgomery rushed for 151 rushing yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns to go with it. Montgomery and Gibbs combined for two touchdowns and changed the game for the Lions. Many did not believe Montgomery would play as much as last year because of how good Jahmyr Gibbs has played, but David has proved that is not the case.
#3. Vikings D/ST (32.0): A very expected game from the Vikings defense and special teams. Isiah Rodgers, a cornerback for the Vikings, had two defensive touchdowns, including a pick-six and a fumble recovery. On top of that, he also had a forced fumble. Rodgers accounted for most of the defensive points, but the Vikings only let up 10 points and scored 48 on the offensive side of the ball. A root cause of this blowout was an inexperienced Bengals quarterback filling in for Joe Burrow.
#2. Jonathan Taylor (32.8): The Colts are on a roll, starting off their season 3-0 for the first time since 2009. Jonathan Taylor has played a major role in the Colts’ success. Taylor rushed for 102 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns. Taylor had a 46-yard touchdown that sparked his run game. Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has been playing great and has taken away the attention from Taylor. While the Colts may have played the Tennessee Titans, Taylor still proved himself to be a great running back who can hang with the elite.
#1. Tre Tucker (40.9): Tre Tucker is the most unexpected player on this list. Tucker caught 8 receptions on 9 targets for an astonishing 145 yards and 3 touchdowns on top of it. Tucker had 21 of the Raiders’ 24 points in this matchup against the Washington Commanders. This may be a breakout player fantasy owners need to pick up, like Puka Nacua in 2023.
