This past weekend, the Rangers had their last regular season quad against the Caledonia Fighting Scotts, Forest Hills Northern Huskies, and Hamilton high school. This was a huge quad for the team as it was their last competition of the regular season, therefore the boys post season standings for individual districts were still being determined based off these matches.
For the teams first dual they faced off against the Caledonia Fighting Scotts in a highly anticipated rematch. In the previous week, the Rangers were able to come out as the winners 42-27. The boys knew they had what it takes the replicate that result. The two teams have frequent history of having some of the best matches of the season when they face off. Seniors Mason Childers and Caden Jacobs both played big roles throughout the weekend; specifically, the two had a pair of impressive wins that helped the team slide past the Fighting Scotts 36-31.
For the boys second match of the day, they battled against the Hamilton Hawkeyes. Freshman Greyson Ripmaster and senior Bryce Hysong both had terrific wins for the team as the boys beat Hamilton 45-34. Although the team beat Hamilton with ease, the Rangers knew they had to turn their focuses to the final match of the day.
Following their second consecutive win over Caledonia and a win over a talented Hamilton high school team, the team had a huge sense of momentum as they transitioned to take on their conference rivals Forest Hills Northern Huskies. This was the first meeting for the two teams this season; however, as the two are huge rivals, each team knew exactly what they had to do to win the dual. Senior Robby Frazer started the match off with one of the biggest wins of the day, beating one of the Huskies’ top wrestlers and giving the Rangers an early lead. Senior Isaac Gurley also had a competitive match, and was able to maintain the teams impressive lead. As the team had a dominating win over their conference rivals, the final score was 61-6
Following the teams final quad, their regular season record finishes at 15-5 and their conference record goes to 5-4. As the team prepares for their post season play, stand out performers Isaac Gurley, Mason Childers, Robby Frazer and Caden Jacobs look to prepare themselves for a deep run into their individual districts and further on. However, the team faces the Rockford Rams next in their team district dual on Wednesday, March 17 at 5:00pm.
