On Tuesday, the girls JV basketball team took on the Northview Wildcats for the second time this season. The girls put up a much closer battle with the Wildcats, improving off of their previous 23-18 loss to kick off their season. However, they were unable to pick up the win and fell to the Wildcats once again, 41-38.

This time around against the Wildcats, the Rangers had their full team with them. In their previous match-up, two of their keys players in sophomores Maya Holser and Frankie Sutton were unable to attend. Now that the Rangers had their point guard and one of their main post-players back, the game remained close and the scoring doubled. Freshman Maggie Sneider once again proved herself as a force to be reckoned with throughout the entirety of the game. She led the team in points with 14, had a huge impact on the game defensively in the team’s 2-3 zone, and was unbeatable on the boards. Alongside her was Maya, the team’s second-highest scorer, with ten points. Frankie and freshman Lacey Smith also were able to combine for 11 of the team’s points for the night, giving the Rangers contributions from many different players.

The girls JV basketball team now has an overall record of 2-6 this season. With a few games left in conference play, the girls are looking to pick up a few more wins in their coming matches. Their next game will be played this Friday, March 5. They will take on their cross-town rivals, the Forest Hills Northern Huskies, in a 5:30 pm game on the Rangers’ home court.
