After their first conference win of the season, the boys freshman basketball team prepared to take on the Wildcats of Northview. FHC beat them earlier in the season by a score of 55-38. In that game, they shut down Northview’s spread offense and capitalized on a bunch of Wildcat turnovers. Coming into this game, though, Northview had a much different mentality. They were more focused and ready to play compared to their first game of the season. This mentality kept them in the game for more than two quarters, but after a huge run in the 3rd from FHC, they ran out of gas. FHC would again take care of business, winning 56-35. Three key players from this game were Ty Hudkins, Roman Brummel, and Chase Enbody. Ty led all scorers with 16 points, Roman controlled the pace of the game while adding 8 points, and Chase dominated the paint with rebounding and 8 points.

FHC had a very poor start to the game. They executed their sets well but could not finish each play, either missing the shot or turning it over. That allowed Northview to silently stay in the ball game. After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Rangers found themselves up 15-10. Ty Hudkins had a huge second quarter performance with 10 points, but Northview continued to battle only down by 5 at half. In the third and fourth quarter, the Rangers looked like a totally different team. They were wreaking havoc on defense which led to easy offensive points. Their 1-2-2 was lethal and the reason why they got out to a big lead. FHC took a 16 point lead and never looked back. They finally closed the game out with their battle-ridden defense 56-35.

The Rangers are now 9-0 with a 2-0 conference record. They look to continue their quest towards a conference championship, facing Forest Hills Northern on Friday.
