FHC girls varsity lacrosse comes back with a second win over EGR
This previous Monday, May 1st, the Forest Hills Central Rangers girls varsity lacrosse team traveled to Memorial Field to take on the East Grand Rapids Pioneers. The girls brought themselves back after a hard loss, walking away with an 18-8 win, taking down EGR for the second time this season.
After a hard loss against Rockford in the previous game, the girls were looking to pull themselves back up in this game. Going into the game the team was feeling very high emotions. Junior captain Taylor Greemann says, “The team was feeling very well going into the game. We had beat East last time, but still had to play well and work together to be able to beat them again.”
Despite unfavorable weather conditions, rain and sleet, the girls were able to go out and leave a well-played game on the field. Sophomore Coco Mehney speaks about the team’s performance saying, “We played pretty good, some highlights were Jordan Koning scoring off of a cut and Maggie Sneider passing an assist for a goal.” Sophomore Joran Koning also speaks about the team’s performance saying, “ The team performed very well. We worked well as a team and did a good job slowing the ball down.”
This win was exactly what the team needed in order to bring itself back and propel the girls to a stellar performance in its future games. As the girls head into yet another game this coming Thursday, everyone is striving towards more and more wins. Taylor speaks about the team’s goal with this upcoming game saying, “The team is hoping to come home with another win on Thursday night’s game and just keep working on small mistakes and perfecting ourselves.”
Good luck to the FHC girls varsity lacrosse team as it travels to the CAT to take on Grand Rapids Catholic Central this Thursday, May 4th, at 7 pm.
