Boys varsity wrestling has tremendous weekend going 3-0

Boys varsity wrestling competed in another quad this past weekend against Mona Shores, Forest Hills Eastern, and Fruitport. Following a disappointing tri-meet the past week, the boys came into this weekend with a chip on their shoulder. The team traveled to Fruitport for this quad and made a statement as the team went 3-0 on the weekend, showing that they have learned and grown from their previous losses.

The Rangers dominated throughout the entire day, with many aspects leading to their multiple wins. One big part of their success stemmed from a plethora of wrestlers going undefeated in all three duals. Seniors Caden Jacobs and Mason Childers along with freshman Greyson Ripmaster were some of the few individual wrestlers that had stand-out performances.

“It helped that everyone was winning; we were never in any danger of losing a dual the whole weekend,” senior teammate Bryce Hysong said, as he also had an impressive performance going 2-1 during the weekend. The Rangers breezed by all three teams, not giving up more than 20 points during a dual on the weekend.

The Rangers beat their out-of-conference rivals Forest Hills Eastern first 51-21. Following that match, the boys battled against Fruitport and were victorious 53-14. On their final match of the day, the Rangers competed against Mona Shores and breezed past the Sailors winning 62-12.

Following this quad, the Rangers are now 4-4 in their conference and 7-4 on the season. The teams next dual will be Senior Night for the Rangers; the boys will be battling the Kenowa Hills Knights at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
