The boys JV soccer team faced off against the Northview Wildcats this past Thursday and executed the game plan to dominate the game from the start. The Rangers controlled the ball extremely well in the midfield which helped them create countless chances on goal. They finally broke the stalemate deep into the first half when freshman Jacob Robertson capitalized on a defensive miscue from the Wildcats and was able to head the ball just out of the goalies reach into the back of the net, giving the Rangers the 1-0 lead. The boys kept the pressure up following their first goal and found themselves with a corner kick five minutes later. Freshman Will Banfield placed the ball at the back post, where Jacob was able to get his head on the ball again, putting the Rangers up 2-0 before the half.
To start the second half, the Rangers stayed in complete domination, barely even letting the Wildcats into their defensive third. As a result, Ranger goalkeepers freshmen Lance Childers and Kasey Dantuma ended the game with yet another clean sheet on the season. Although the boys got more than half a dozen chances, the Northview goalkeeper was able to turn away all of them, ending the game in a 2-0 win for the Rangers.
Following the result of their most recent win, this puts the Rangers’ record at 2-2 for their conference and overall record. The Rangers will look to continue this hot streak this Saturday at 10:00 am against the West Catholic Falcons.
