Hockey skates past GR Christian 2-1

After going 1-2 a week ago, the Rangers are looking to have a much more efficient week. To start their three-game stretch, the Rangers would have to travel to Grand Rapids Christian’s ice rink to face the Eagles. Christian comes into this game still looking for their first win as they have struggled mightily in their first six.

Unlike most games, the 1st period remained quiet in the scoring books as only two goals were registered. Junior Josh Smith received the puck after junior Lucas Jefferys dished it out to sophomore Sammy Mielock, who then took it down the ice, scoring the first goal of the game bringing the lead to 1-0 Rangers. Later in the first, Christian would even things up after Jackson Isaac’s goal coming from a pass from both Jake Eaton and Danny Groszkiewicz bringing the score to 1-1.

The second and third periods would remain dry beside the only other goal of the game being scored. Josh Smith would find the back of the net on even strength midway through the second period which would be the last point of the game bringing the final score to 2-1 Rangers.

The Rangers are now 3-5 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. This win now gives the Rangers their 6th point in conference play which ties them up at third place with East Grand Rapids whom the Rangers face tomorrow, and then Forest Hills Eastern/Northern on Saturday.
