Wrigley Field: the best place to watch America’s game
The best place to watch a baseball game is none other than a shrine on the north side of Chicago. While I will agree that there are many other great places to watch a game such as Fenway Park, Busch Stadium, and Comerica Park, none are quite as special as Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.
Wrigley Field is unique, for it is the only field with an ivy-covered wall that adds another aspect to the game. If a ball becomes engulfed by the ivy, it is ruled a double, which at any other stadium would never happen because the ball would just bounce off of the padding that is on the outfield walls. The ivy is nearly 90-years-old, making Wrigley the only stadium to not be required to add padding to its outfield walls. I think that the ivy sets Wrigley apart for many reasons. One is that it is such an iconic and classic feature that every baseball fan knows of it, not to mention the fact that by June the ivy looks incredible. This sets Wrigley in an iconic visual display of its own.
Not only is Wrigley Field one of the most iconic sports venues in the nation, but it is also one of the most universally loved as well. Those who love the game of baseball dream of walking on the green grass at Wrigley. I won’t lie when I admit that I like the look of some of the newer stadiums such as Globe Field where the Texas Rangers play; however, it doesn’t bring the same “vibe” as Wrigley. When I look at Wrigley, I feel reminiscent of the classic game of baseball, otherwise known as “America’s Game”. People cannot deny that Wrigley Field is not only a symbol of good old fashion baseball but also a symbol of what the game is really all about.
Wrigley Field is the second oldest stadium in the MLB behind Fenway Park. Through the years, many stadiums have become weathered and somewhat dilapidated, but Wrigley has held up way better than Fenway and others. If you have never been to a baseball game in your life, Wrigley Field needs to be your first trip. Wrigley is where I went to watch my first game and it changed something in me; my passion for the game grew immensely after being in one of the most important places in baseball history.
What people seem to overlook fairly quickly when it comes to Wrigley Field is the history. Fans of the game are stuck in the now and forget the past. So many great players have called Wrigley home over the past 109 years. If a stadium can stay intact and continue to bring so much joy to a city for 109 years, you’ve got something special. That’s what Wrigley Field is special. It is unsurpassed and unbeatable in the best places to watch a game. I don’t care that another field has a screen the size of an apartment building. Take me to a game at Wrigley Field, and I will be the happiest fan on the entire planet at a place that made baseball more than just a game.

Oh, yes! This article perfectly describes how integral baseball is as part of the American culture. Hence, I should ask my cousin to watch a game sooner or later. We’ll be spending our summer break in Detroit this fall and I plan to witness some players. uspbl . com / suites /
