Boys varsity wrestling has another successful tri meet, finishing 2-1

Boys varsity wrestling had their second tri-meet of the season this past weekend where the Rangers finished the day going 2-1. The boys’ first dual of the weekend was against Coopersville. Senior leader Caden Jacobs was a big part of the Rangers win over the Broncos, as he won his 100th high school match after pinning his opponent. Senior Isaac Gurley also contributed a pin in the boys’ victory over Coopersville. The Rangers handily beat the Broncos 38-27.

Following an impressive win over their first opponent, the Rangers moved their attention to the next challenge: the Wayland Warriors. The Rangers started slowly during this match because of their dominant win earlier in the day. However, seniors Mason Childers and Robby Frazer had two big wins during this match for the Rangers, which led to the 46-26 victory over the Warriors.

Following the Rangers two impressive wins, the boys faced one of the toughest opponents on their schedule, the Sparta Spartans. Sparta historically has always produced a tough team for the past few years so going into the match, the Rangers knew they would have to give it their best. Both Caden and Isaac went undefeated on the day, which further helped the team through all of their matches. Although Sparta was able to control the majority of the later matches, the Spartans were able to gain a comfortable lead and never let the Rangers catch back up. In the end, FHC ended up losing 52-13.

The Rangers went 2-1 in this tournament and will face off next on Wednesday, February 24 at home in an OK White wrestling quad.
