The girls varsity bowling team finish 9th in its first competition
The first match of the 2022-2023 girls varsity bowling season is complete with girls finishing in ninth. However, don’t let the placement fool you. The ladies played very well for it being their first competition of the season. While ninth place might not look nice, this is good progress compared to last year’s performances.
“Our placement in the tournament did not reflect our team,” said junior Tz Cumbo-Nacheli, “we played well, but we had a rough start, we dominated the baker games though!”
Most people were not impressed by the ninth-place performance, but what matters is the fact that the team is making progress. Progress is the only thing that matters in high school sports, as long as the girls keep improving at the game, we should be in for the best girls bowling season in years.
“At the beginning, it was rough,” quoted Tz, “I couldn’t make any spares and was overall bowling bad. The second half of the tournament was better, my performance was great! I think the second half of the tournament will foreshadow my future performance in upcoming competitions not only for myself but also for the rest of the team.”
It is important to note that the bowling team bounced back to finish strong during the last part of their competition on Saturday. With a tough match against the FHN Huskies coming up on December 7, the girls are going to need to bring their best and a no quit attitude to pull out the win.
