The Ranger Volleyball Team tops Greenville
This past Thursday the ladies faced off against the Greenville Yellow Jackets. Like all of the interactions these teams have had this season, the Rangers made quick work defeating Greenville in three sets.
“Overall, we knew what we needed to do,” senior captain Sarah Dunn said. “We played a very consistent game. We did some really good things but there are still some small details we need to continue to focus on.”
The team played together strongly. While this is a team sport the game saw many standout players, with plays that helped support the Rangers to the victory.
“[senior] Averie Zaschak played really well,” junior Elana Kavanaugh said. “It was her setting in that match that really gave us an edge over Greenville.”
While Greenville isn’t the best competition the Rangers will see in the conference tournament, the win is not insignificant. Every opportunity the ladies have to play is an opportunity for them to improve.
“Our next competition is Byron Center,” quoted senior captain Sarah Dunn. “We played Byron Center at the beginning of our season and won. Obviously, all teams have gotten better since early on in the season, so we expect it to be a really good match-up.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming week, the Rangers will face off against Byron Center on Tuesday. This will be their most challenging game of the conference tournament so far. The key for the ladies to continue to have success is if they keep things rolling. They have been on a hot streak the entire season. If the ladies can control the minor mistakes, fans should expect to see another three sets blow out this upcoming Tuesday.
