JV baseball finds first tie of the season against Byron Center
JV baseball took on the Byron Center Bulldogs in a doubleheader on Monday. Sophomore Matthew Seurynck took the mound for the Rangers.
The offense began to ramp up in the second inning when the Bulldogs scored one run. Later into the bottom of the third, sophomore Alex Brown doubled into center to score a run for FHC. Another run was scored on a passed ball and sophomore Trevor Williams doubled, scoring the third run. The inning ended and the Rangers had seven runs on the board.
While Byron managed to score one run earlier on to make the score 8-2, it was the sixth inning that took the FHC boys by storm. Singles, walks, and errors all added up for Byron Center to gain six runs in the inning. JV baseball added one more run to the score but the Bulldogs would answer back with three more runs to end the game in a tie of 9-9.
The boys bounced back in game two in a 6-5 finish. JV baseball did obtain a win but also added its first tie to the record.
“The tie was disappointing,” sophomore Jacob Harleton said.
JV baseball is taking on the Bulldogs for its final game of the season on Wednesday, May 24 in an away game at 4:00 pm.
