JV baseball is back on track with two wins against Grand Rapids Christian

The JV baseball team took on the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles Monday night. The boys took the win in game one through a pitcher’s duel and game two came down to a nail-biter.

The Rangers started with a three-up and three-down inning; sound defense ran the game for both teams. The bottom of the second presented two hits from sophomores Jacob Harleton and Matthew Seurynck to help the Rangers score their first run. Sophomore Alex Brown then hit in the team’s second run of the game. This run support for the opposing pitcher would be dormant until the fifth inning.

Sophomore Jacob Robertson doubled on a line drive, followed by a single from sophomore Trevor Williams to score Jacob for a three-run game. The final score was 3-1 in another win by the Rangers.

Game two kicked off in the second inning when sophomore Val Wals obtained an RBI. Advancing into the third inning, sophomore Matthew Curtis doubled on a line drive to left field. Sophomore slugger Chase Enbody hit a sacrifice fly to score Curtis and make the game 2-0. A single by Matthew Seurynck extended the lead by one. The final run for the Rangers came from Val hitting a single through the infield to make it a 4-0 game.

However, the Rangers would lose their solid play in the top of the seventh. The Eagles had a 4-3 ballgame from one double to multiple walks. One more run would send the teams into the bottom of the seventh. Luckily, the Eagles hit a ground ball to Robertson for the final out. The Rangers came out with a close 4-3 win over the Eagles.

JV baseball will take on Grand Rapids Christian at its home field on Wednesday, May 5, at 4:15.
