When the girls JV water polo team was preparing to start the year, it was hit with a piece of adversity immediately. Former head coach, Dennis Neat, announced that he would be stepping down prior to the season opener.

This put the FHC athletic department in chaos, as the varsity team brought up former JV head coach Sara Fredricks to be the interim head coach. Having to intertwine with varsity has been difficult, but it seems like the team has benefited from the extra practice, as it has shown up in the win column every game so far.

Forest Hills finished the past week undefeated and with a record of 6-0. Five of these games spanned over the past week and the team was impressive in all five games. To start the week, Forest Hills matched up against Zeeland.

The Zeeland team was no match for Forest Hills, as the team won its only game of the day. Moving to Thursday’s game, the team defeated a talented West Ottawa squad that gave Forest Hills some fits. Forest Hills had to turn around the next day and take on an east side team in Okemos. Okemos was one of the best teams FH had seen all year but it still took care of business.

Heading into the tournament in Mason on Saturday, the JV water polo team had a 3-0 record and looked to finish the week undefeated. The girls faced three different opponents, and the same result was prevalent in all three. Against Grand Blanc, the team held a shutout and won 14-0. Chelsea struggled against Forest Hills as the girls won 17-0. Lastly, Forest Hills increased the winning streak to six games after beating Mason 20-0.

After the long week of games, Forest Hills improves to 5-0 on the season. The girls take on East Grand Rapids on Thursday, April 21, and try to continue the undefeated season.
