Going into this week, the Forest Hills JV girls field hockey team had one goal: stay undefeated. The girls have been staying on their toes this season and have had an impressive past few weeks with great success.

Although the girls have not had an official win just yet, they are positive that they will get their time to shine. So far this season, the girls have held down the fort and proven themselves greatly.

“We are undefeated even though we have tied every single game,” junior Paige Fron said.

The ladies have played two games in the past two weeks. They battled against Ann Arbor Skyline on the 18th of September–in which they tied–and the other on the 23rd, when the girls took their first true defeat 2-0 to Dexter High School.

We played Ann Arbor Skyline, which JV tied 1-1. Our goal was by Avery Schestag, with an assist by Mackenzie Wintrich,” head coach Carol Aaron remarked.

“The defense is strong,” coach Aaron said when asked what the team has been solid on so far this season. “But, the whole team works well together.”

Junior Paige Fron also had good things to say about the team up to this point.

“I like the friendship,” Paige said. “It’s really nice because we can be nice and open with each other and we can just tell each other and critic each other where our weak points are so we can make each other stronger.”

Even though the girls did fall short this week, they plan to keep their heads high and work on their skills until they get the win that they crave. Both the girls and coach have big expectations for the coming weeks as the season starts to dwindle. The coach grows hopeful of the girls in their biggest matchup so far on October 16 when they participate in the JV tournament on the home turf of FHC.
