Exceptional pitching and fielding leads the varsity softball team to a 10-3 win against Northview
After a dominant series versus Northview on Monday, the varsity softball team looked to complete a trio of wins against the Wildcats. In its first two games, FHC was led by its hitting attack. But in Wednesday’s game, the team was led by pure, hard-nosed defense. In their most complete game of the year, the girls took care of the Wildcats 10-3. The team was led by freshman Lea Zainea and senior Faith Addington.
As soon as the game started, the team was locked in. The Rangers were sharp in their fielding and hit the ball with passion. Lea had the best game of her season, hitting a triple and double along with 3 RBIs. Junior Alyssa Wierenga added to the stat sheet with 3 RBIs. Senior Kylie Halverson also had 2 hits. On the mound, Faith pitched another fantastic game. She pitched seven innings, only giving up 3 runs. On top of that, she struck out four batters and had a first-pitch strike of 16.
The Rangers improve to 9-11 with a conference record of 9-3. FHC faces off against Kenowa Hills this Thursday; the girls look to stay hot and continue their winning streak.
