Varsity softball expands its win streak to three games by beating East Grand Rapids 21-7
The varsity softball team headed into its game on Wednesday with confidence. The team defeated EGR in back-to-back games on Monday and would face them again this go-around. FHC continued its dominant performances against East, winning 21-7. Senior Kylie Halverson and sophomore Maya Holser had big games at the plate.
The main reason why the Rangers continued their winning streak is because of their batting attack. Kylie and freshman Lacey Smith led the team with 4 hits and 4 RBI’s. Maya Holser had a game-high of 5 RBI’s, along with Alyssa Wierenga putting together 3 RBI’s. Senior Bela Gonzalez pitched and had a wavering night on the mound. In her first start, she pitched all six innings, giving up seven runs. She had 3 strikeouts and a WHIP of 2.17. All in all, the girls showed how talented they are at hitting the ball and played well enough in the field to get it done.
FHC moves to 6-9 on the season with a 6-3 conference record. The team faces Mona Shores this Thursday on the road. The Rangers can continue their winning streak against a tough Sailor team.
