Girls varsity lacrosse bounces back with 12-10 win over Spring Lake

The girls varsity lacrosse team took on Spring Lake last Friday and won 12-10, snapping its losing streak. This victory means a great deal to the girls lacrosse program. Nearing the start of the playoff gauntlet, the girls’ have high hopes to turn their season around.

“We played a pretty solid first half and successfully limited Spring Lake’s goals,” junior Sophie Hartl said. “They were able to make a run near the end of the second half, and they ran up the score a little bit.”

After hitting a tough patch in the season, the Rangers are looking to build on this win next Monday against Rockford. With head coach Zoe Mamo absent against Spring Lake, it was up to the team’s leaders to guide the Rangers to victory. Sophomores Delaney Smith, Gabby Hendricks, Shannon Murphy, juniors Sophie Hartl, Sofia Debano, and Julia Brown led the team to its first victory in three games.

“This win is a big confidence booster for the girls,” coach Mamo commented. “We needed it to be able to come back strong for the remainder of the season.”

The Rangers’ next matchup is against the Rams of Rockford. In the first meeting between the two programs, the Rams rolled past the Rangers with ease. However, halfway through the season, FHC hopes to have a different outcome and increase its new win streak to two.
