JV softball starts off season strong against the East Kentwood Falcons and Greenville Yellow Jackets
The JV Softball team started off its season with two back-to-back days of double-header games. Taking on the East Kentwood Falcons and Greenville Yellow Jackets in two games. The team walked away with a 3-1 record and a strong start to the season.
In their two games versus the Falcons, the Rangers were able to pull away with a very close victory in the first game with a score of 15-14. Ranger pitcher Lauren Halverson from Forest Hills Northern threw six strikeouts. Junior Remmie Gavle had a successful game at the plate, going 2-3. In the second game, the Falcons dominated and beat the Rangers 16-6. The downfall for the Rangers was their six errors. Despite this, Remmie once again hit well by going 1-2, along with several other girls going 2-3.
The next day, the Rangers took on their first OK White Conference opponent in the Greenville Yellow Jackets. The series would end up being two victories for FHC. In their first game, the Rangers dominated by winning 20-1 in three innings. Lauren had five strikeouts and no walks against her opponents. Junior Molly Dixon had a solid game at bat by going 2-4, and every player on the team was able to get a hit throughout the game. In the second game, the Rangers picked up a win with a score of 20-1. The team had a total of ten hits, and no errors throughout the game.
With these four games behind it, the JV Softball team will take on the Greenville Yellow Jackets again in a double-header. The first game will start at 4:15 pm, and both games will be played on the Rangers’ home field.
Zoe is a senior in her fourth year on staff. She will be attending Wheaton College next year to play both soccer and basketball. GO THUNDER!
