Week 3 of the NFL just wrapped up, and there are a lot of fantasy football players who overperformed and seriously underperformed. I will be going over the 5 players of this week who performed the worst based on ESPN stats.
#5. Derrick Henry – Ravens
Derrick Henry had a very solid 1st game of the season, with a 169-yard and 29.2 fantasy point game in the loss to the Bills, but after that, it has all gone downhill for him. He had 2.3 points in the week 2 win over the Browns, and was projected 16.9 points in week 3, but he only managed to put up 10.7. Henry had 12 carries and was only able to gain 50 yards during the Ravens’ loss to the Lions.
#4. Ashton Jeanty – Raiders
Ashton Jeanty is behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL this season, but he still is significantly disappointing Raiders fans and people who took him in fantasy football. Jeanty was projected to have 15.5 points in the Raiders game vs. the Commanders, but he was only able to put up 63 yards on 17 carries and is still searching for his first NFL touchdown. His performance was only able to scrape up 6.3 fantasy points.
#3. Michael Penix Jr. – Falcons
Penix started off his NFL career great, where he put up 24 points in his opening day game against the Buccaneers with 298 yards and a touchdown. The next 2 games were disappointing, though. He only put up 5.3 points in week 2, and was projected to have 14.8 points in week 3, but after only putting up 172 yards and no touchdowns with a 50% completion rate, he got 3.8 points, and dropped back to the 28th best quarterback in the fantasy league.
#2. Zay Flowers – Ravens
Flowers is one of Lamar Jackson’s main targets behind Mark Andrews, and he has had a solid start to the season. He averaged 21.5 fantasy points during the first 2 weeks of this season, but had a very rough week 3 game against the Ravens. Flowers was targeted 3 times and caught 2 of them, only for a total of 3.3 points, while being projected 14.4. He is still the 13th-best WR in fantasy football right now, and with a game against a struggling Chiefs defense next week, he might be able to go up even further.
#1. Ja’Marr Chase – Bengals
Ja’Marr Chase is back at #1 on this list for the second time in 3 weeks as the most noticeable bust in fantasy football. Chase was only targeted 6 times in Cincinnati’s embarrassing week 3 loss to the Vikings 48-10, and he managed to get 50 yards off of 5 catches. This was the first game without Joe Burrow for the Bengals, though, so I can understand how Chase might not have played his best in this game, but he is still #1 on the list because he was the #1-ranked player in fantasy football for this year, and is not playing his best this season yet. He was projected to have 16.6 points for week 3, but he only managed to put up 8.9. He is currently ranked 11th among fantasy football wide receivers, but with a game against the Broncos next week, he definitely has an opportunity to redeem himself and move back up the rankings, which I think he will be able to do in the next few weeks.
