Disc golf is very underrated when it comes to comparing it to other sports. Some people don’t know the sport, or even how it would work. There are many reasons why this sport is super underrated, and even how it could be a better sport than others for some people.
Disc golf can be played by oneself or with many other people. The goal of the game is to throw a compact plastic “disc” from a “tee box” into the chain basket. You want the lowest number of throws after all 18 holes.
One of the main reasons why disc golf is often underrated is its overall cost and accessibility. To play this sport, you only need a couple of discs and a park with a disc golf course. Discs can cost up to only 5-10 dollars used, and that’s the only purchase needed. The vast majority of disc golf courses are located in parks, and one can play for as long and as much as they want, as getting into most public parks is free. This eliminates the very expensive green fee, essentially making it financially accessible to all people who want to play.
The sport is very easy to learn, too. Practically anyone who is physically able to exercise can play this sport. The basic mechanics of throwing the disc can be very easy for anyone to pick up, allowing new players to play right away. Now, trying to master this sport is different, but playing as a beginner is still easy.
Another big reason why it’s really underrated is that it’s a fun and very healthy way to experience and abide in nature. Because most courses are placed in public parks, nature and fresh air will be everywhere. Vitamin D is supplied to the body, and exercise is great for the body. Normally, on a disc golf course, the holes will be spaced out in different places, making the player walk up to 3 miles throughout the 18 holes. Also, the mental relaxation of getting outside, away from everyday chaotic life, is very healthy for anyone.
Traditional golf is pretty intimidating to many people wanting to start a new sport. Disc golf, on the other hand, is really not very intimidating, and the community it holds is very welcoming. Disc golf is known to be very relaxing and not very competitive, making it super chill. As I stated before, this game can be played by yourself or with many friends. Playing with friends makes it a more enjoyable and social experience.
Disc golf is super underrated, and people tend to overlook its unbeatable characteristics. The sport is cheap, welcoming, social, and super healthy for anyone.
